I see Cool Things-Fabulous Design in PALM SPRINGS

Updated: Sep 29, 2018

Decorators Delight at Grace Homes in Uptown Design District

Palm Springs is a exciting place to be for those that appreciate good design and not just during modernism week but all year round with many great boutiques showcasing beautiful objects of art and furniture to elevate your home and senses.

The Uptown Design District is a great place to spend a few hours checking out local interior designers, decorators and collectors. Home owners and interior decorators are fortunate to gain exposure to some of the best names in design and find world class historically significant vintage design pieces that are becoming a rarity. People will even pay to ship furniture all the way to Australia, which can be as expensive as the cost of the purchase in order to snatch up the right piece for a client.

Working In Style

How amazing is this lacquered wood desk from the late 1960s ?! High gloss and sculptural this desk may get you daydreaming about candy bars and disco instead of crunching numbers but work should be fun right? A La Mod have been in business for over 15 years and are right opposite Trina Turk.

Glamorous Green Bar Stools

These Swivel stools also at A La Mod would work well in so many different situations whether you were going for a 1920s Metropolis themed room, 1960s Stanley Kubrick or 80s glam! You don't need to go out to a fancy hotel for a Martini if you have these at home.

Savage Art at The Shops1345

Local Artist Shawn Savage is very popular with decorators and home stagers and for good reason. His work has a distinct style that is very much his own, that is warm and playful yet classy and elegant.

What's inside?

Palm Springs
The Secret Phone in the box

Maxwell Smart had his shoe but I like the idea of the secret phone being a little cleaner thank you very much. This beautiful mid century phone in a box makes call making much cooler than talking on your iphone. Spotted at the Antique Galleries of Palm Springs where you have multiple vendors and two floors of home decor.

Palm Springs
Ode To Ayn Rand?

This mysterious "The Architect" sculpture at Koffi on Camino Real is by Guy Ferrer. Is he referencing "The Fountainhead" ? ,one of my all time favorite books rumored to be based on and inspired partially by Architect Frank LLoyd Wright or is Guy just creating a sculptural metaphor for the flow and inspiration that pours out of us after a great cup of coffee???

Either way it is a nice place to rest with a nice cool drink after shopping and appreciate all the good design

Thanks for visiting Palm Springs Fabulous
